This exciting private tour will start with urban center of Shanghai, one of the fastest developing cities in the world, an important transport hub and global financial center. Shanghai has a rich collection of buildings and structures of various architectural styles. French Concession is one the most notable well-preserved area in the former foreign concessions. Shanghai also has one of the world's largest numbers of Art Deco buildings. Once called the 'Paris of the East', Shanghai is a testament of the new China.
Browse stunning collections of antiques in Shanghai Museum, visit 16th-century classical garden in the heart of the city, discover Jewish Quarter or enjoy street food breakfast are some of many experiences not to be missed. You may also choose to explore the surrounding water towns of Zhouzhuang, Tongli, Wuzhe, Luzhi or Xitang.
From Shanghai, you will continue your journey to Yunnan Province; Shangri-La (Zhōngdiàn) and old town of Lijiang. Shangri-La is located right on the border of Tibet at the hight of 3,200 meters above sea level. It is home to many Tibetan tribes and remains an intriguing destination with the blend of Tibetan and Han Chinese culture.
Old town of Lijiang is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. It is located in the 'Three Parallel Rivers of Yunnan Protected Area', another China's UNESCO World Heritage Site inscriped in 2003. Lijiang is an ancient town set in a dramatic landscape. It has more than 800 years of history, dated back to the late Song Dynasty and early Yuan Dynasty.
Lijiang's old town consists of three villages; Dayan old town, Baisha cluster home and Shuhe cluster home. Baisha village is where the most famous fresco known as Baisha Mural is located. The mural was created over 300 years ago by Taoist painter, Tibetan Lama artist, Han painters and many other artists depicting harmonious religious, cultures and artistic forms of Buddhism, Lamaism, Taoism and the Naxi Dongba religion.
Water is a crucial element of the town existence. Other than visiting Lijiang's ancient water supply system that still functions effectively today, you will also visit the important Black Dragon spring water pool and discover how the local people of Naxi ethnic minority develop a scientific way to distribute and use the water among the community. Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and Yak Meadow are also important places to visit.
There is so much to do and if you put your trust in Doyan travel you will surely not be disappointed. From the moment of correspondence, I felt cared for and was given knowledgeable and accurate information in a very timely manner.
